Deon Monzel Daniel, 20, male, who was Black/African American, was shot late on July 10, 2025, in the 700 block of Herndon Street in Opelika, Alabama. Police responding around 10:40 p.m. found multiple people wounded; Deon Monzel Daniel, 20, male, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lee County Coroner. Investigators later said the gunfire erupted during a confrontation inside a residence, where shots were exchanged between the homeowner and others present.
