On November 14, 2004, Derrick Dee Harris was fatally shot in Opelika, Alabama. The Opelika Police Department responded to the incident and discovered Harris in a hallway, where he had succumbed to his injuries. Following the investigation, three men were arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with Harris's death.
