On March 25, 2017, a tragic shooting occurred in Opelika, Alabama, resulting in the deaths of 31-year-old Derris Terrel Harris and 27-year-old Sedric Darrell Lewis. The incident took place around 9:15 p.m. in the 400 block of Toomer Court. Upon arrival, officers found Lewis deceased at the scene, while Harris was transported to East Alabama Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
