On July 21, 2014, 17-year-old Alizah K. Ellis, a resident of Opelika, Alabama, was fatally shot. The incident occurred in Opelika, leading to his death at the East Alabama Medical Center. Subsequent investigations identified 17-year-old Vantavious Quintez Hughley as the suspect in the shooting. Hughley was arrested and charged with Ellis's murder.
