In the summer of 2014, a life was tragically cut short in Opelika, Alabama. On July 21st, 17-year-old Alizah K. Ellis, a male resident of the city, was fatally shot. The incident led to his death at the East Alabama Medical Center, leaving a community to mourn the untimely loss of a young life. Ellis was born on October 2, 1996.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a suspect, another teenager from the same community.
Vantavious Quintez Hughley, who was also 17 years old at the time, was identified as the individual responsible for Ellis's death. Following the investigation, Hughley was arrested and subsequently faced a charge of murder in connection with the fatal shooting.
