On November 16, 2018, 64-year-old Johnnie Lee Forte was fatally shot in Opelika, Alabama. Authorities identified his live-in girlfriend, 34-year-old Shakela Shanae Minnifield, as the primary suspect in the shooting. Following the incident, the Lee County Sheriff's Office initiated a search for Minnifield, planning to charge her with murder in connection with Forte's death.
