In the early afternoon of December 13, 2024, Opelika Police were called to the Woodbend Apartments on Waverly Parkway following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival at approximately 12:35 p.m., officers discovered 43-year-old Marquet Devon Turk Sr. with gunshot wounds. Emergency medical technicians joined police at the scene in an attempt to render lifesaving aid to the injured man.
