In the late hours of a Saturday in Opelika, Alabama, the life of 22-year-old Jacob Austin Smith, a male resident of Auburn, was tragically cut short. On February 27, 2016, what began as a dispute escalated into a fatal act of violence in the 500 block of Raintree Street. An argument between Smith and another individual culminated in gunfire around 9 p.m., leaving Smith with a mortal wound.
