On January 30, 2014, 40-year-old Fredrick Lee Blakely was fatally shot following a vehicular incident near Exit 100 on southbound Interstate 20/59 in Lake View, Alabama. The confrontation began with a high-speed race between Blakely and another driver, Roderick Dale Washington Jr., which culminated in a collision.
