On August 20, 2014, 40-year-old Ozell Powell, a former University of Alabama defensive lineman, was fatally shot at Creekstone Apartments in his hometown of Greenville, Alabama. Responding to reports of a gunshot victim around 8:30 p.m., authorities found Powell with two gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen. He was transported to L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
