On November 5, 2014, 38-year-old Edward Leon "Budgie" Young Jr. was fatally shot near a residence in Bryant, Alabama. Sheriff's officials reported that the incident involved a former female relative of Young. At the time, authorities had not determined whether the shooting was an act of self-defense or a homicide, and no arrests had been made as the investigation was ongoing.
