In the spring of 2008, a young man's life was cut tragically short on a street in Northeast Washington, D.C. On the evening of Monday, March 31, 2008, at approximately 10:09 pm, officers from the Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 1500 block of Downing Street, NE, following reports of gunshots in the area. Upon their arrival, they discovered 20-year-old James Kilgore inside a gold 2000 Buick, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
