In the winter of 2024, a grim discovery was made in a wooded area of a Washington, D.C. park. On Friday, February 16th, the remains of 29-year-old Leon Powell, a Black male from Southeast, DC, were found in Fort Greble Park, located off the 4300 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SW. Authorities reported that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition. Powell had been reported missing since November of the previous year.
