On the evening of Monday, May 20, 2024, a shooting incident in Northwest Washington, D.C. resulted in the death of 21-year-old Rashaud Johnson. The male victim was located by Fourth District officers of the Metropolitan Police Department at approximately 9:12 p.m. in the 7300 block of Blair Road, Northwest, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical services, upon arriving at the scene, found no signs of life and Rashaud Johnson was pronounced dead.
Shortly after the discovery of Johnson, a second victim, also a male, was found in the 800 block of Fern Street, Northwest, with gunshot injuries. This individual was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating the fatal shooting as a homicide. As of now, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Johnson's death. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing.
