In the winter of 2015, a violent act in Birmingham, Alabama, tragically cut short the life of 32-year-old Cedric Dewayne Pierson. On a February day that began like any other, Pierson was at a home in the city when he was shot in the neck. The injury was grave, and he was rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
