On February 22, 2015, in Birmingham, Alabama, 32-year-old Cedric Dewayne Pierson was involved in a fatal altercation. Pierson and his brother were visiting a residence on the 7400 block of 1st Avenue South when an argument erupted with Cadarius Deandre Owens, the homeowner's son. The confrontation escalated into a gunfight, resulting in both Pierson and Owens sustaining injuries. Pierson was transported to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 1, 2015.
