On October 9, 2022, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting at a residence in the 1900 block of 28th Street Ensley. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Birmingham resident Kenneth Dewayne Maddox Jr. lying unresponsive inside the home, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported Maddox to Princeton Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
