On June 10, 2021, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex located at 1916 14th Avenue North in Birmingham, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 33-year-old Earnest La'Darrius Moody Jr. lying on the steps of an apartment, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel transported him to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
