On December 25, 2021, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting at 25 40th Street West in Birmingham, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 42-year-old Raymond Cotton Jr. lying unresponsive on the front porch, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel transported him to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
