On a Thursday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama, 33-year-old Euriticulus DeShawn Williams was struck and killed in a hit-and-run incident. The tragic event occurred on September 23, 2021, along Interstate 59 South near the Roebuck Parkway exit. At the time of the incident, Williams was reportedly cleaning litter from the side of the interstate.
According to witness accounts, a white FedEx truck hit Williams and subsequently fled the scene.
When emergency services arrived, they found him unconscious on the roadside. Despite their efforts, Williams succumbed to the injuries he sustained in the collision.
Shortly after the incident, Birmingham police received reports that the FedEx truck involved was still in the vicinity. Law enforcement officers were able to locate and pull over the vehicle. The female driver of the truck was taken into custody.
An official obituary confirmed Euriticulus DeShawn Williams's passing and announced that a funeral service would be held in his honor. The service took place on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at St. Luke Baptist Church in Birmingham, followed by interment at G.W. Carver Cemetery.
