In the early morning hours of April 26, 2008, the life of 30-year-old Melvin Seals was tragically cut short in the Trinidad neighborhood of Northeast Washington, D.C. At approximately 2:00 a.m., Seals was standing in the 1200 block of Morse Street, NE, when he was fatally shot. The brazen violence of the act was underscored by the fact that he was shot 17 times. At the time of the incident, reports suggested the shooting may have been connected to a gang war that was plaguing the neighborhood.
