On April 8, 2014, Virgil Wood, aged 22, was shot and killed in the 1500 block of V Street, SE, Washington, D.C. The incident occurred around 10:35 PM. Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) responded to the scene after reports of gunfire, but Wood was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The homicide is being actively investigated by the MPD's Homicide Branch, which continues to seek public assistance in solving this case.
