In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 1, 2023, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of a Southeast Washington, D.C. neighborhood. When the sounds of the shots faded, 40-year-old Michael Cary, a resident of Northwest, D.C., was left dead in the 500 block of Parkland Place, SE.
