In the early morning hours of a late November day in Montgomery, Alabama, the life of 25-year-old Shederick Brooks was tragically cut short. On November 29, 2015, police responded to a call in the 2200 block of Upper Wetumpka Road where they found Brooks suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. He was a resident of Montgomery.
Known to his loved ones as 'Peanut,' Shederick's death was the result of what authorities described as a domestic incident.
His passing left a void in the lives of his family and friends, who remembered him through an obituary published in the Montgomery Advertiser. Funeral services were held the following Saturday at Lilly Baptist Church, with his body laid to rest in Lucas Cemetery.
In the wake of the shooting, the Montgomery Police Department swiftly identified a suspect. Jonathan Norman, also 25 years old and a resident of Montgomery, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with Shederick Brooks's death. Norman was subsequently held on a $75,000 bond. The investigation suggested the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute, bringing a swift but somber resolution to the initial phase of the case.
