In the summer of 2021, the life of 24-year-old Brandon Todd was cut short in Montgomery, Alabama. On the afternoon of June 16th, his body was discovered along the side of the 8800 block of Woodley Road. An investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office determined that the young Black / African American man had died from gunshot wounds, leading them to classify his death as a homicide.

Authorities identified two suspects, Michael Johnson and Stefon Moye, both 18 years old at the time and residents of Montgomery. Warrants were issued for their arrests, and they were subsequently taken into custody and charged with murder. Both Johnson and Moye were then confined to the Mac Sim Butler Detention Facility.
Prior to his death, records show that Brandon Todd had a run-in with the law earlier the same year. On February 19, 2021, he was arrested and faced charges of third-degree burglary and second-degree theft of property. That incident occurred in the 5200 block of Carmichael Road, and he was held at the Montgomery County Detention Facility following that arrest.
