On December 26, 2022, 14-year-old Deanthony "D.J." Vickers was shot in the head while walking from his girlfriend's house to his cousin's residence in Montgomery, Alabama. The incident occurred around 5 p.m. in the 4800 block of Park Towne Way, near Troy Highway. Vickers was transported to a hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries two days later, on December 28.
