In the summer of 2020, the life of 20-year-old Bernard Hardy Jr. was cut short by an act of gun violence in Montgomery, Alabama. On the evening of Friday, July 10th, officers from the Montgomery Police Department were called to the 3100 block of Gastonia Street. Upon arrival, they found Hardy with a fatal gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported him to a local hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The Montgomery Police Department quickly launched a homicide investigation into the death of the young man.
In the days that followed, authorities identified and arrested two suspects in connection with the fatal shooting. Tamyus Wasp, 19, and a 16-year-old juvenile were taken into custody and both faced capital murder charges. Wasp was subsequently placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Hardy's death continued as the legal process against the two suspects began.
