In the autumn of 2022, the life of 22-year-old Alonzo Jones was tragically cut short in Montgomery, Alabama. On the evening of Sunday, October 30th, police and fire medics were dispatched to the 300 block of East Park Avenue around 8:40 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Jones, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial hours of the investigation were crucial as Montgomery police detectives began to piece together the events that led to the young man's death. Their work quickly identified a person of interest, and within days, their focus narrowed in on a suspect.
On Wednesday, November 2, 2022, the investigation culminated in the arrest of 20-year-old Demarcus Ja-Kobe Chambers. Members of the Montgomery Police Department, with assistance from the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force, located and apprehended Chambers, charging him with one count of murder in connection with the death of Alonzo Jones. Following his arrest, Chambers was taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where he was held on a $1.5 million bond. The case is now awaiting further legal proceedings.
