On December 5, 2015, 56-year-old James Morgan Jr. was fatally shot in the chest while walking with a woman in the SouthTown Homes project, located on the 2400 block of 9th Court South in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred during the evening hours, and Morgan was pronounced dead at the scene.
