On September 22, 2009, 31-year-old Christopher Woods was fatally shot during a gunfight over a drug deal at the intersection of 7th Street and Avenue W in Birmingham's Tuxedo Heights neighborhood. Another individual was also injured in the exchange. Following the incident, Christopher Norris was charged with capital murder in connection with Woods' death.
