On February 21, 2016, 33-year-old Jarvaris Henry James was fatally shot in Fairfield, Alabama, after using a tracking application to locate his stolen cellphone. Earlier that day, James's phone had been taken from his vehicle. Utilizing a tracking app, he traced the device to the parking lot of Crumbey Bethel Baptist Church, situated near Miles College.
