On July 19, 2021, at approximately 5 p.m., 33-year-old Kevin Keith King Jr. was fatally shot near the Fairfield Package Store on Lloyd Noland Parkway in Fairfield, Alabama. Responding to reports of a shooting, Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrived to find King deceased at the scene. The incident was promptly classified as a homicide, initiating an investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
