On August 26, 2021, 44-year-old Corey Dewayne Waters was fatally shot in the 500 block of 42nd Street in Fairfield, Alabama. Responding to reports of a shooting around 2:30 p.m., Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the scene and discovered Waters suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead shortly thereafter.
