On March 3, 2016, 36-year-old African American woman Tanisha DeShunya Norton was found shot to death in her apartment in Dothan, Alabama. Her death was ruled a homicide, and the case quickly drew the attention of local law enforcement. Tanisha Norton was a resident of Dothan and had previously attended Headland High School.
