In the spring of 2016, the life of 29-year-old Stephen Marquis Gaines was cut short in a burst of gunfire in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Known to his friends and family as 'Spud,' Gaines, a male, was fatally shot on April 24, 2016. His death, which occurred in the early hours of that Sunday, was the culmination of a series of events that began with another shooting just an hour earlier.
