Reginald Stephon Smith Jr., a 20-year-old man from Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot on December 27, 2016, in what authorities soon confirmed as a homicide. Smith's body was found in the 900 block of 13th Street Southwest, a residential area in Birmingham. He had been shot multiple times, and despite efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
