On August 23, 2022, at approximately 7:25 p.m., 40-year-old Brandon Eugene King was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Red Top at Green Springs Apartments, located at 2418 Green Springs Highway in Birmingham, Alabama. Responding to reports of a shooting, South Precinct officers discovered King lying unresponsive, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel transported him to UAB Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
