A 34-year-old man, Randale Oden, was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama, on the evening of January 3, 2017. The incident occurred at an apartment complex where Oden was reportedly involved in a domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend.
According to police, Oden was assaulting his former partner when another individual present at the scene intervened and shot him. Oden was pronounced dead at the scene.
The shooter remained at the location and cooperated with the authorities when they arrived.
Following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the case was presented to a grand jury. The Jefferson County grand jury ultimately ruled the shooting to be a justifiable homicide. As a result of this determination, no criminal charges were filed against the individual who shot Randale Oden. The authorities did not release the name of the shooter.
