On June 1, 2024, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 3500 block of Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard North. Upon arrival, they discovered 32-year-old Jerry Bailey lying unresponsive in a grassy field, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
