On the evening of July 27, 2020, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a shooting incident at the Twin Gates Apartments, located at 715 Spring Landing in Birmingham, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 31-year-old Dexter Dewayne Speight lying on his back, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Speight was promptly transported to UAB Hospital by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
