In the cool night air of Friday, January 28, 2022, in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 17-year-old Javarius Reid was tragically cut short. He was a passenger inside a vehicle traveling in the 2900 block of 16th Street North when the sound of gunfire suddenly erupted at approximately 11:40 p.m. In the chaotic moments that followed, a bullet found its way to Reid, inflicting a fatal wound.
