On June 26, 2022, at approximately 10:05 p.m., Birmingham Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of 19th Street Ensley. Upon arrival, they discovered 50-year-old Horace Berry Jr. lying unresponsive in the roadway, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
