On June 20, 2017, 40-year-old Jeremy Scott Smith, a security guard at Shotgun Willie's bar in Mobile, Alabama, was fatally shot. The incident occurred after Smith escorted a patron out of the establishment following a bar fight. The patron, identified as 35-year-old Dewayne Wheat, returned to the bar and shot Smith multiple times in the parking lot.
