In the summer of 2017, the life of 19-year-old Levaunghte Assa, also known as Levaunghte Manassa, was cut short in a burst of gunfire in Mobile, Alabama. On the evening of June 26th, in a residential neighborhood, the young man was struck by multiple bullets, his death later ruled a homicide by authorities. The initial investigation pointed not to a random act of violence, but to a targeted attack, a grim culmination of a pre-existing conflict.
