On October 27, 2021, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Mobile Police officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Pleasant Valley Shopping Center, located at 2755 Pleasant Valley Road in Mobile, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old Jerome Demetrius Ryals Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
