On a Tuesday evening in Huntsville, Alabama, a sequence of events tragically culminated in the death of 20-year-old Antonio Melson. On July 11, 2017, police responded to a call around 5:30 p.m. and discovered Melson inside a car on Blue Spring Road with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into Melson's death quickly led authorities to a second individual involved in the incident.
Shortly after finding Melson, officers received a report of another shooting victim, 18-year-old Terrance Rodgers, who was at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his hand. Investigators determined that Melson and Rodgers were together in a vehicle in the area of Alice Drive and Mt. Vernon Road.
Authorities concluded that the two men were involved in a drug transaction when an altercation broke out. During the dispute, Rodgers allegedly shot Melson. Rodgers also sustained a non-serious gunshot wound to his hand during the incident.
Following their investigation, the Huntsville Police Department charged Terrance Rodgers with capital murder in connection with Antonio Melson's death.
