In the early morning hours of October 5, 2017, the life of 37-year-old Charles Hunt was tragically cut short in Huntsville, Alabama. A resident of Huntsville, the White / Caucasian male was fatally shot in the 100 block of Oldwood Road. Deputies from the Madison County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene at approximately 4:30 a.m. and discovered Hunt deceased from multiple gunshot wounds.
Eyewitnesses at the scene identified 57-year-old Mark Fecteau as the man who had shot Hunt.
This information prompted a search for Fecteau by law enforcement, including the deployment of a SWAT team. The search led authorities to a home on Brena Lane in the nearby community of Hazel Green. As law enforcement attempted to make contact with Fecteau, he took his own life.
Following the apparent murder-suicide, the Madison County Sheriff's Office confirmed that there was no further threat to the public. Friends and family remembered Charles Hunt, who was born on November 28, 1979, as an amazing father who was always willing to help others. A memorial service was announced to be held at a later date. The case is considered solved due to the death of the identified suspect.
