In the fall of 2017, the life of 26-year-old Quinton Lee Sims was cut short in a hail of bullets within a Bessemer, Alabama, residence. The young man, a resident of Birmingham, was discovered by Bessemer police with a single gunshot wound on the evening of Monday, November 6, 2017. Rushed to a nearby hospital, his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
