John Donald Higby, Sr., an 89-year-old male, was killed on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in what police described as an apparent robbery. The incident occurred around 12:50 p.m. in the parking lot of the Dauphin Square Shopping Center located at 3170 Dauphin Street in Mobile, Alabama. Higby was discovered inside his vehicle and was pronounced deceased at the scene from a gunshot wound. Witnesses reported that the shooting happened during an altercation.
