On March 12, 2019, Mobile Police responded to a residence on Karlan Drive in Mobile, Alabama, following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of 85-year-old Donald Middleton, his wife Helen Middleton, also 85, and their 60-year-old son, Daniel Middleton. The incident was classified as a murder-suicide, with all three individuals being related.
