On a quiet Tuesday morning in Mobile, Alabama, the tranquility of the Carlin Drive neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire, leading to the discovery of a tragic family incident. Inside a home, police found three deceased individuals, victims of what was determined to be a double murder and a suicide. The deceased were identified as 85-year-old Donald Lee Middleton Sr., a male, his 85-year-old wife, Helen Catherine Middleton, and their son, who was identified by neighbors.

grim event unfolded around 9 a.m. on March 12, 2019, when a neighbor, alarmed by the sound of gunshots, promptly called the authorities. Upon their arrival, Mobile Police officers entered the residence to find the three family members deceased. Neighbors described the couple as friendly people they would often wave to. They also recalled seeing the son around the property, bringing in the garbage cans, but never suspected any underlying issues.
Further investigation by the Mobile Police Department confirmed that the incident was a murder-suicide.
