On January 13, 2018, 21-year-old LaRonald Cortez McDaniel was fatally shot while seated in a vehicle with a woman outside a residence in the 800 block of Gary Avenue, near Bessemer, Alabama. Authorities believe McDaniel was specifically targeted in a drug-related dispute.
In February 2018, 30-year-old Ebonee Sade Russell Malone was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with McDaniel's death. Investigators determined her involvement in orchestrating the shooting.
