Rodney Martin, a 42-year-old Black man, was killed on February 8, 2018, after a shooting outside the Energize gas station on St. Stephens Road in Prichard’s Whistler area, just north of Mobile. According to investigators, the violence erupted around 8:55 that night as Martin was leaving the store, after what police described as an apparent argument involving him and a female subject.
